Our coach Steven Cheng will be going to watch the Australian Open qualifying sessions at Melbourne Park on Saturday, January 16. After that, Steven will run a Mini Aus Open Tournament at Deer Park TC.

Everyone is welcome to come along and / or play in the Mini Aus Open Tournament.

Steven will be at the bus stop at Deer Park Railway Station / Tilburn Road at 8:10am and will be catching the 8:24am bus to Sunshine, then catching the train at 8:41am at Sunshine Railway Station (platform 1).

He will return to Deer Park TC at around 2:30pm (depending on what time the matches finish). The Mini Aus Open Tournament will start from 3:00pm and finish at 5:00pm.

Bus / train costs are the normal costs so don't forget to bring your Myki card, but entry to watching the qualifying sessions is free of charge.

Tennis Victoria have invited us to enter a Deer Park TC team to compete on the TAC People's Court during the Australian Open and go into the running to win $5,000 for Deer Park TC!

More details:

• 22 clubs will compete over 11 days (presumably that means that each day, 2 clubs play each other)
• matches start at 3:30pm - you'd need to be there at least half an hour before this
• we need 1 male player and 1 female player
• both players must be over 18
• the competition is 1 men's singles match, 1 women's singles match, 1 mixed doubles match
• matches are played in the FAST4 format
• each day's winning team will receive 2 Rod Laver Arena tickets and the runners up an Australian Open merchandise pack

Our club will be celebrating another successful year at the club on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 6.30pm with a club function which is being catered for this year. The cost is $5 for members and $15 for non-members with a member. Please RSVP no later than Sunday, November 22, 2015 by printing out an RSVP form (see below) and handing to a committee member at social tennis between 7pm and 9pm. Alternatively, you can send the form - together with a cheque or money order - to the club at PO Box 2069, Brimbank Central, Deer Park VIC 3023. There are great door prizes to be won and we'll be presenting the awards, trophies and prizes for NSNTA Season 2 and the Spring Allcourt Challenge and Melbourne Cup Challenge competitions. Our new club shirts have arrived :)

Members who registered and paid their registration fees for the 2015 Season 2 seasons of the NSJTA or NSNTA competitions - or the 2015 Pennant season - are entitled to a free shirt.

We also have a limited number of extra shirts - available on a first-come-first-served basis - for $25 each.

To claim your free shirt, or to buy a shirt, see Shane, Chris or Lindsey at the club (in some cases team managers will distribute the free shirts to their team members).

On Wednesday, January 14, the TOTAL TENNIS team are going to the Australian Open qualifying tournament. Everyone is welcome to come along.

We will be catching the 10.18am bus from Deer Park Railway Station / Tilburn Rd to then catch the train at 10.44am at Sunshine Railway Station (platform 1).

We will return to Deer Park Railway Station at 3.42pm.

Bus / train costs are the normal costs but entry to watch the qualifying tournament is FREE of charge.

Congratulations to our ladies A Res team, our Men's B2 team and our undefeated B Special mixed team on making their respective grand finals. All members are encouraged to attend these matches and give our teams support as they strive to win their premierships!

Also, all night teams are expected to finalise competition fees tomorrow night at the club from 7pm. These fees were due two weeks ago.

Also, junior players are reminded that registration forms and fees are overdue. Please ensure that you have remembered to fill in a club registration form and returned with fees. No form or fees means you will not be selected. Membership fees may also be due, so please check.
