The Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Coalition (VIRWC) will be delivering a leadership training course for senior immigrant and refugee women from June to July, 2013. This is in recognition of the lack of senior immigrant and refugee women’s representation in policies and programs pertaining to positive ageing, elder abuse, mobility, social isolation, health care, aged care and human rights.
We are looking for women (over the age of 50) who have at least Level 3 in English proficiency, have the time to attend 7 days (one day per week) of training and have the passion to advocate for issues concerning senior women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
This training will open participants to networks and opportunities for involvement in meaningful activities that will improve the lives of senior Victorians from various cultural backgrounds.
Training dates: 13th June—25th July (Thursdays only)
Time: 10am to 3pm
Venue: Raleigh Road Activity Centre– 54 Raleigh Road Maribyrnong
