DPTC 50th Anniversary Retro Tournament

We will be holding a "retro style" tennis tournament on Saturday, 2nd November, 2013 at the club from 1pm.
Players will be required to use wooden racquets (you can buy through the club) and we will also be using the old fashion 1960 style white tennis balls.
Players will also be required to wear the all-white like the players at Wimbledon.
So if you want to get the feel of the 1960's in our unique tennis tournament, then fill in the registration form ASAP as this event is sure to book out!
This tournament will also be offered to non-members and is limited to the first 50 players.
A BBQ afternoon tea will be included in your entry fee!
The junior event will be played in the morning of Saturday 2nd November starting at 8.30am. Great prizes on offer!!

July Update

Just an update regarding the club's recent premiership success.

The club's A Grade men's team went undefeated to win their NSNTA premiership, and two NSJTA teams won as well.

Congratulations to all our members who represented the club this season.

A total of 77 juniors and 38 senior members represented the club. That's over 100 players, which is great.

Don't forget that now competition is over for a little while, you are reminded that social tennis is on at the club on a Tuesday and Sunday evening from 7pm until 9.30pm.

Social tennis is a great way to exercise during the winter months. Please encourage friends and family down for a hit. The cost is $5 per member and $10 per non-member.

Please ensure that you have paid before you play as a few players are not paying which is not fair on the players who pay on a regular basis. If you have forgotten to pay over the weeks, we would appreciate a retrospective payment for the weeks you have not paid.

We use these funds to provide our members with better tennis facilities. Who knows, maybe courts 7 & 8 are just around the corner ?

Senior Women Champions Leadership Training Course for Senior Immigrant and Refugee Women

Some club members may be interested in the following:

The Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Coalition (VIRWC) will be delivering a leadership training course for senior immigrant and refugee women from June to July, 2013. This is in recognition of the lack of senior immigrant and refugee women’s representation in policies and programs pertaining to positive ageing, elder abuse, mobility, social isolation, health care, aged care and human rights.

We are looking for women (over the age of 50) who have at least Level 3 in English proficiency, have the time to attend 7 days (one day per week) of training and have the passion to advocate for issues concerning senior women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

This training will open participants to networks and opportunities for involvement in meaningful activities that will improve the lives of senior Victorians from various cultural backgrounds.

Training dates: 13th June—25th July (Thursdays only)

Time: 10am to 3pm

Venue: Raleigh Road Activity Centre– 54 Raleigh Road Maribyrnong
